Who will be the rookie of the year on offense for the Patriots?

Which rookie will have a breakout year on offense?

Well, I may surprise you with my answer.

The rookies on offense for the Patriots are OL Cameron Fleming, RB Roy Finch, WR Jermey Gallon, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, G Jon Halapio, RB Stephen Houston, TE Justin Jones, OL Chris Martin, C Bryan Stork, WR Wilson Van Hooser, TE Asa Watson, and RB James White.

This is a tougher one to answer because I believe there could be 3 rookies that have an impact on the offense for New England this year: RB James White, G Jon Halapio, and C Bryan Stork.

I think the potential is there for all 3 to have a big impact in New England this season, but the one I’ll go with is Center Bryan Stork.

I think he will have the biggest impact the fastest.

During the team’s minicamp, Stork was snapping the football to Tom Brady and was getting a lot thrown at him by the Patriots. It was almost like they were prepping him to start. Stork will compete against the 6 year vet Ryan Wendell for the starting job at center in training camp and he has a realistic chance of winning the job.

Wendell started off horrible in New England last season, but put together a decent season down the stretch, but was NO pro bowler by any means. The Pats could do better at center and they know that. Stork is the guy they drafted to replace Wendell. It’s not a question of IF he replaces Wendell, but more WHEN will he.

Tom Brady was sacked 40 times last year, the 2nd most in his career.

Some of the sacks were because of the receivers, some were because of Brady holding on too long, but a lot were because of the line.

Most of the pressure came from the interior line.

Logan Mankins was decent throughout last season, but Vollmer and Solder, were the only two that played at pro bowl levels. It was tough when New England lost Vollmer to a broken leg early in the season.

Brady was drilled, often, and against teams with good pass rushers it was brutal to watch.

Anyway, you slice it, the Pats needed to do something about the line and they did.

They made one thing clear in the draft, the offensive line play was unacceptable, and they stocked up on o-linemen.

Bryan Stork brings the smartness, toughness, and size to the center position. He can pick up the offense quickly, and with his size and skill sets, should be a great center for Tom Brady.

Pats are in need of offensive line change and I think we will see it this year, and I believe Stork has all the tools to be the day one starter.

I think Stork will make a huge difference for New England.

So, my pick is Bryan Stork to be the offensive rookie of the year for New England.
