Tommy Kelly is doing what Vince Wilfork currently won’t do – restructuring his deal.
Defensive tackle Tommy Kelly restructured his final year of contract with the New England Patriots today, creating about $800,000 in cap space.
Kelly was going to earn \$2.5 million in his contract — $1.95 million in base salary, a $50,000 workout bonus and $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses, according to Field Yates.
Field Yates broke down Kelly’s new deal.
As part of the restructured pact, it now breaks down this way:
Signing bonus: $100,000
Base salary: $955,000
Roster bonuses: $800,000 ($50K per game he’s on the 46-man active list)
Total value: $1.85 million
The deal also includes the following playing-time incentives:
20 percent — $95,000
30 percent — $195,000
40 percent — $345,000
50 percent — $495,000
60 percent — $645,000
