The Patriots will be without defensive star Aqib Talib, Jerod Mayo, Vince Wilfork, and Tommy Kelly. On offense they will be without Danny Amendola once again.

The biggest loss, impact wise, is Aqib Talib on defense because he changes everything for New England. When he is on the field the defense is just better in this passing league. Offensively, without Amendola, I think the Patriots are better prepared to be without him than last time because of Austin Collie.

The Jets have a solid defense that can get after the QB but what I look at is the fact the Patriots played one of their worst games against the Jets and the Jets still could not beat them so I doubt they will today because I don’t see the Patriots playing that bad.

I expect Tom Brady to go to Austin Collie and Julian Edelman a lot in this game because he trust them the most out of all the receivers. Collie came in for Amendola last week and did excellent, getting open, showing good hands, and making a huge 4th down catch on not a great throw by Brady. Austin Collie will have a big impact on this game and I expect Brady to go to him a lot.

Edelman will get his fair share of catches too because he will work open some in the game and Edelman and Collie will do the most on offense for New England. Edelman and Collie will move New England up the field for red zone chances.

Rob Gronkowski will make his debut and I don’t think he will play every snap but I think we will see him in the redzone a lot.

Gronk’s biggest impact today will come in the end zone and he will draw attention for other people to make catches or he might even get one himself. But he will help in the red zone.

Kenbrell Thompkins confidence should be sky high after his game winning catch. I don’t expect him to do much but I do think he will have a solid game and help out the offense.

Ridley had a great game against the Saints, but the last time New England faced the Jets the running game was a no show, and the Jets dominated it. The Jets have great run defense so I think they will be stout today but not overpowering. The run game for New England should be okay today. Not great, but okay.

The offensive line is the biggest worry for me as it is in every game. They gave up a lot of pressure on Brady against the Jets, Bengals, and Saints. That CAN NOT happen today. They have to protect Tom Brady because if Brady has a lot of time then New England will score a lot of points.

For New England to win it always comes down to protecting Tom Brady.

Defensively the Patriots will have Hightower running the show and calling the shots and he is as ready as he has ever been. Hightower did this at Alabama so he knows what he is doing, and he has unreal talent. He can pass rush, run stuff, and cover decently but I expect Hightower to have a big game with how fired up he is.

Spikes will help out in stopping the run because the Patriots want to force the Jets to throw in order to beat them.

Brandon Spikes is great at stopping the run so he will be in the box with a pair of rookies to make sure the Jets don’t find a consistent running game.

Dennard, Arrington, rookie Ryan, and McCourty have to step up without Talib in the game. Talib missing has the biggest impact just like year. The Patriots couldn’t cover the Ravens without Talib so this is the game where the defense can prove they can still cover without him. Thankfully we are not facing the Saints this week without Talib. I don’t think the Patriots need Talib to shut down the Jets but we how bad we have been in coverage in the past without him it is a troubling spot.
