New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

Saints Vs Patriots: 3 players to watch

Alright, we are moving on from the Patriots loss to the Bengals last Sunday, 6 -13. It snapped Tom Brady’s touchdown streak of 52 in a roll, 2 shy of tying Drew Brees, and 3 away from breaking it. It was the Patriots first loss of the season and it was the worst offensive outing by New England this season.

The Patriots defense that has played extremely well this season will face its toughest task of the season, and the offense will face another stiff defense.

On paper, and to the seeing eyeball, this game may look like a blowout win for the Saints because of the Patriots struggles on offense but, don’t count the Patriots out just yet. There isn’t anything like a mad Brady and a mad Patriots team. It is when they play their best ball.

Tom Brady is mad, he is fuming at his performance and not scoring any points, he is itching to get back out there to prove the doubters wrong for counting this team out. He also plays his best when the other team’s QB is getting all the talk, attention, and glory. Plus don’t doubt that strong defense of the Patriots. They can shutup everybody for good with a strong performance Sunday.

Here are 3 players who could change the whole game Sunday with their performance

Dont’a Hightower

Hightower only played 37 snaps last week against Cincinnati but I expect him to be in more against the Saints. We need him in coverage over Mayor or Spikes, he is the best one of the bunch, isn’t saying a lot, but he has done fairly well this year.

Tight End Jimmy Graham is Drew Bree’s favorite target on the offense, and for good reasons. He is big, strong, fast, and an amazing athlete. Great jumping ability, have you seen his touchdown celebration? I’m not exactly sure who will be on him in the game, could be a corner, or it could be a LB, safety or corner. Either way, I doubt the Pats man to man him. This guy commands a double team. If a linebacker is on him then I’m guessing it will be Hightower. A great linebacker, who had a down game last week, but he wasn’t in much. This week he can be huge for the Pats on defense. He might even be on Sproles, which I doubt New England puts a linebacker on that little, fast, and insanely elusive runningback. But regardless his role Sunday, and regardless of who he is on, Hightower can impact this game in a big way.

Aaron Dobson

Dobson was targeted only 4xs Sunday and he caught 2 for 49 yards. Brady was beginning to go to Dobson more toward the end of the game. Dobson was wide open on a route late in the game, but it didn’t matter considering he ran the wrong route and Brady threw it the other way. Last pass of the game was intended for Dobson but was picked off, and that was all on Brady.

But Dobson was the guy Brady was trusting toward the end, the guy he went too in the 4th outside of Amendola so I expect him to look Dobson’s way a little bit more this Sunday. Dobson is the deep threat, and he is very talented, but he needs to run the right routes and not drop the ball so much. Dobson is the guy who needs to step up to take some pressure off of Danny Amendola, and Julian Edelman because these guys are going to be the ones the Saints mark as “MUST STOP”. Dobson needs to help his QB out, and since he will be in one on one coverage, he should be able to do that.

Nate Solder

Nate Solder and the entire offensive line really. They came off their poorest showing this season by allowing pressure on Brady pretty much the entire game. The Bengals have stud pass rushers but so do the Saints. Almost everybody on their line has a sack and it is led by Cameron Jordan. This defense is tough, rough, mean, and hit the QB happy so Solder and the squad will have their work cut out for them.

And for once, please offensive line show us you can handle a physical defense. The Saints defense is definitely not last year’s defense, they are allowing 14 ppg this year which is great! Brady will be great, and complete a whole lot of passes if they can protect him so Solder, the best offensive linemen needs to lead the way in a great performance because that is the biggest difference of winning and losing.
