The New England Patriots are looking to improve to 5 – 0 today when they square off against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Where: Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, OH

When: October 6, 2013, 1:00 p.m. ET

Watch: CBS

Live Stream: NFL Sunday Ticket, Game Rewind

The Patriots defense has been great through the first four games this season with Aqib Talib leading the way in the secondary.

Talib will face off against AJ Green today. Aqib Talib must shut down Green if the Patriots have any chance of winning because Green is Dalton’s go to guy, his security blanket, etc. He makes the offense go and if you shut him down you slow down the Bengals. This won’t be an easy task as Green is big, fast, strong, and great leaping ability. Talib shutdown Julio Jones last week, and now he has a chance to shut down Green and sketch his name officially in the top 3 corners.

The Patriots defense will focus on stopping Green but they will also focus on the two tight ends for the Bengals.

Just last year it was the Patriots running the two tight end formation all the time, now it is the Bengals. They have Gresham and Eifert running it and they are two big monsters having a great season. They haven’t scored a touchdown but they have put together a lot of catches for a lot yards this season.

The Patriots was torched repeatedly by Tony Gonzalez last Sunday, and that is just one guy, the best to ever play that position, but just one guy. This is two, and how New England handles it could give the edge to the Bengals or the Patriots.

Hightower and Arrington have to slow these guys down, especially for confidence heading further into the season that tight ends are no longer a weakness.

Offensively the Patriots are looking to establish the run. They ran well in every game this season except for the game against the Jets, but when they establish the run it helps their young offense.

Brady is the best play action QB in the NFL and when his team is running well, it sets it up and the offense becomes even harder to stop. Last Week, the Patriots made a point to run it right at Atlanta and then used the play action a lot to success. But, the Patriots proved they could run and pass, and when both are going they are hard to stop.

New England needs to establish some sort of run to help their offense against a very talented defense today.

Today the Patriots offense will be tested.

The Patriots would lose games against a very physical team with a good defense, like the Bengals have, so this is a chance for New England to prove they can beat those kinds of teams.
