Patriots tight end Zach Sudfeld has been waived by the New England Patriots today.
Sudfeld had a good training camp and preseason creating fanfare but never lived up to the hype during the first four games.
He dropped a pass that led to an interception; and he muffed an onside kick last Sunday against the Falcons. He didn’t record a single catch in his four games and didn’t look like an NFL player. He also had zero impact as a special team player.
Tight End Matthew Mulligan came in to play for New England Sunday night and caught a touchdown pass. Mulligan is known for his great blocking skills and brings at least that to the team and with a touchdown catch the Patriots have seen what they like in him.
With Sudfeld being waived it might be a good sign for Mulligan that he will remain on the team after Gronkowski’s return.
If no one claims Sudfeld then he will be eligible to be on the Patriots practice squad.
