The winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to Foxborough to take on the undefeated Patriots on Sunday.
Don’t let their records fool you, the Buccaneers could easily be 2 – 0, and the Patriots could just as easily be 0 – 2, heading into this match.
The Bucs have found ways to lose while the Patriots have found ways to win, and this weekend the Patriots hope to continue that trend.
3 players you should watch for:
Darrelle Revis – CB
Darrelle Revis anchors a very talented group of defensive backs for the Buccaneers. The Bucs defense held the Saints offense to 16 points last Sunday, and picked off Drew Brees twice. Revis shut down Marques Colston for the majority of the game and hasn’t lost his ability to cover a receiver. The Bucs defense has sacked the opposing team’s QB 9xs through the first 2 games, intercepted 3 passes, forced 3 fumbles, and have 14 passes defended. This is an impressive defense coming in against a struggling Patriots offense. The secondary could give the rookies trouble all day. Edelman too.
Stevan Ridley – RB
Ridley has struggled through the first two games. He fumbled twice (lost one) against the Bills and then in week 2 against the Jets, he never really found his footing. Ridley rushed the ball 16 times for only 40 yards in the Jets game. Ridley needs to step his game up this week but against a stout Bucs defense it will look to be another slow game for Ridley.
Mike Williams – WR
Mike Williams is the other head of the double headed monster in the Bucs receiving core. Williams plays opposite Vincent Jackson, and Williams ain’t no slouch. Against the Jets Williams had 4 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. Against the Saints he had 2 catches for 9 yards, but even though the offense is struggling right now, Williams could be a playmaker against the Patriots. With Talib on Vincent Jackson this Sunday, look for Dennard to be matched up with Williams. Stopping Vincent Jackson is hard enough but New England and Dennard will have to stop Williams too.
