Slice of Life: Tom Brady

Dexter is a hit TV show on showtime and this Sunday will be the final episode of Dexter after 8 years of entertaining millions. Dexter is a show about a serial killer who ONLY kills bad guys. When he captures the bad guys, and deals them justice the Dexter way, he will take his boat that he ironically calls “Slice of Life” and dump the secrets in the ocean.

Tom Brady like Dexter has been known to slice his victims up (in a VERY different way) on the football field. For the past 14 years, fans of the NFL have been use to seeing Brady work with surgical like precision on the field against the opposing team’s defenses.

The start of the 2013 season hasn’t gone quite like Brady and Pats fans have expected, even though they are 2 – o, notching key wins over their division rivals. New England fans, and Brady, are use to his 300 yard games, and multiple touchdown games, but the offense is struggling with all of the new faces catching passes from Tom Brady, mostly rookies. The new offense is also struggling with injuries, main WR Danny Amendola may be out awhile. Rob Gronkowski, the best target on the team, has missed the first two games recovering from last season’s injuries but he is set to make his return very soon which will be a huge help to Brady. Brady hasn’t been able to put his foot down on an opponent and score that final touchdown in the 4th quarter to put the team up by 20 to make sure they are finished in a long time. Matter of fact, he has been spending the start of this season surviving the other team and their attempts to overthrow his reign in the AFC East, and in the NFL all together, kinda like Dexter in season two.

Dexter was off his game at the start of season 2 after losing someone close to him and couldn’t find the will to do his “dark passenger’s duty” as he calls it. He lets one bad person go, and then tries to capture another bad person, but Dexter was so off his game the bad guy broke out and escaped. Dexter was lost, and confused, and not having his precision like focus turned on. With all of this going on, Dexter finds out the FBI discovers his secrets in the ocean, and the chase begins for the rest of the season, and Dexter had to find a way to stay on top like Brady is currently doing.

Last season the Patriots started the first 3 games with a record of 1-2. Yes, the Patriots won one game, and lost two in a roll. They bounced back in making the AFC Championship Game in January. When the offense was struggling against the Cardinals last year, they lost, but this year, the offense has struggled twice, and both times they have managed to pull out a win. The defense is stepping up and helping the Patriots notch these key wins within the division, and last year if the offense struggled the Patriots were probably going to lose. But even though that has changed, the worries, and reactions are still the same, will New England be okay? Will Tom Brady find his way with the new receivers? We have a whole new season to find out.

Fantasy experts are telling fantasy owners of Tom Brady to drop him, don’t start him, basically stay away from one of the best quarterbacks of our generation because of a rough start. Just like Doakes, a police officer who worked with Dexter, tried to warn everybody about Dexter. Nobody listen to Doakes, will anybody listen to the fantasy experts? Should we believe there warnings that Tom Brady may not get this figured out, and back on the right path, and start tossing 3 touchdowns a game again?

Nobody listened to Doakes, and Dexter escaped capture and managed to turn the whole thing around on Doakes.

And just like nobody listen to Doakes, nobody should listen to the fantasy experts either. Don’t listen to them because like Dexter, at some point this season, Brady and the offense will shake the cobwebs, and confusion, and piece it together. Brady will turn it around on the fantasy experts and make them look silly for advising people to actually bench him or worse, drop him. Brady and company will right the ship and continue on their journey of reattaining the AFC East Title, and head into the playoffs with a dangerous offense.

Don’t worry Patriots fans, Tom Brady will right his boat on the right path and continue slicing up the opponent’s defenses in Brady like fashion.
