The legendary rock band KISS bought an arena football team and is offering QB Tim Tebow a 3 year deal to play for the team.
The offer “will encompass a three-year contract with the possibility for Tebow to earn millions,” the team said in a news release Monday.
“As a former NFL player, the LA KISS will offer intense training and unwavering commitment to the former New England Patriots player, with the hopes to take him to the next level,” the release stated.
“The chance for Tebow to improve as a quarterback is immense as the AFL is a pass-happy league with 90% of the league’s offensive plays coming from throwing the ball. If accepted, the contract will need to be approved by both the AFL’s Board of Directors and the AFL Players Union.”
Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS also released statements on the offer.
“Tim Tebow is one of the most recognized and respected athletes in sports,” Stanley said. “His joining us would mean great things for his fans and for our team, especially from a business standpoint.”
Simmons added: “Acquiring Tebow would not only be a great investment for the team, but his exciting style of play would definitely send shockwaves through the League. We’re excited for the opportunity to see him with an LA KISS uniform on, and for the LA KISS fans to be rockin’ their Tebow shirts and jerseys.”
I know this is a long shot of the LA Kiss getting Tim Tebow since he wants to stay in the NFL but if a team doesn’t sign him sometime this season, or in the offseason next year, he should do it. He doesn’t want to play anywhere but the NFL but in order for that to happen he may have to fix his quirks in the AFL first.
It is a great offer to Tebow from the LA Kiss, and a deal that would benefit both sides of the coin. For LA Kiss it brings publicity to their team, generates buzz around them, boost ticket sales, merchandise sales, and adds more fans to their team. For Tebow it is one way to make sure he doesn’t miss out on playing football for over a year and a great chance to work on his throwing skills. Kurt Warner, who himself played in the Arena League before going on to win a Super Bowl for the Rams, suggested Tebow ought to play somewhere – anywhere – just to stay sharp. Warner credited his time in the AFL with improving his ability to read defenses because he had to make quick decisions in the indoor game.
LA Kiss are willing to work hard with the former Patriots QB to fix his throwing motion, and really for Tebow, there is no better thing than game action. In the AFL they pass almost every down, and repetition is the best weapon for fixing a quarterbacks throwing motion. There has been quite a few success stories of players going from the AFL to the NFL, and maybe Tebow should consider this great offer by the LA Kiss.
I for one, would watch Tebow play in the arena football league!
