The NFL On CBS – Grading The Announce Teams

Today we will give out grades on the guys calling the games on CBS!

1. Jim Nantz//Phil Simms – They are my favorite announcing team on CBS. I think Nantz is a good play by play guy, and Simms goes well with him. Simms is my favorite of the two and being a former player, obviously knows the game. Grade: A-

2. Greg Gumbel//Dan Dierdorf – I’m not the biggest fan of Dierdorf, but Gumbel isn’t bad. I’am not the biggest fan of these two though. I think they should have different partners to complement each other. Grade: C+

3. Ian Eagle//Dan Fouts – The Ravens – Chargers game last season that Fouts called is still in my game. That was some bad announcing! Read more about that HERE. Fouts seem to guess a lot through games, and just miss the boat as an announcer. Eagle isn’t bad, and I like him and think he does a decent job through out games. Grade: C-

4. Marv Albert//Rich Gannon – Rich Gannon is excellent. He is funny, smart, and know the game. Albert is okay, but seems to get lost during the plays, and confused as what to say between plays. Grade: B-

5. Kevin Harlan//Solomon Wilcots – Kevin Harlan is a great game announcer. He has a ton of energy for the game being played, and brings it every week, but Wilcots is terrible. Wilcot is a Mr. know it all, and talks over Harlan a lot, which is a shame considering Harlan is a great announcer. Grade: D+

6. Bill Macatee//Steve Tasker – I don’t hear this crew too much so I don’t have too much to say about them. I hear they are an average pairing though. Grade: C+

7. Spero Dedes//Steve Beuerlein – Not the best duo ever. Spero misses plays, and doesn’t seem to the game very well. Beuerlein really isn’t all that good either. To be honest, these guys are just not good. Grade: D-
