New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

Scouting the Bills

We are scouting the opposing team for New England tomorrow.

The Bills are bringing in good pass rushers, but a bad secondary. To make matters worse it looks like Jarius Byrd will be sitting out in this game against New England.

The player to watch for on the Bills defense is DT Kyle Williams. Williams had a half a sack in each game against the Patriots last season, and he can get to the QB. He isn’t their best pass rusher, but against New England he could get to Brady a few times like in the past. Along with Williams on the line is the other Williams, Mario Williams. Mario had 10.5 sacks last season, but with a new coaching regime this season he figures to be let loose against the opposing Quarterbacks. New England must be able to block him and the entire defensive line for Buffalo. The Bills will like to blitz a lot this season, so expect to see a few blitzes heading Brady’s way tomorrow.

The linebackers will be featuring some new faces. Manny Lawson, Kiko Alonso, and Jerry Hughes are the notable new guys. Bills fans are excited about Alonso, and Hughes, but I still think their linebackers are a weakness to the defense.

Their secondary tomorrow will be without safety Jairus Byrd and cornerback  Stephon Gilmore, and that is trouble for the Bills. The Bills passing defense was bad last season, and it looks to be bad again this year, and playing without Gilmore, and Byrd is really going to hurt them. The secondary is their weakest link.

Now, on the offense, they will be starting a rookie QB. Rookie quarterbacks do not have great records against a Bill Belichick defense. Rookie QBs usually have a hard time reading the Patriots defense and commit quite a few turnovers, so EJ has to protect the football for the Bills to have any chance. Buffalo will look to get the ball out of Manuel’s hands quickly and into his playmakers hands. They will look to get it to Spiller a lot tomorrow, both in the run and pass game. The part that will be most dangerous is when Spiller gets the ball in his hands in the passing game because if you give him space he is very dangerous. I think the Patriots run defense is very good that they will contain him, but in the passing game he can hurt them. I’m not exactly sure how great EJ is as a thrower, but he will bring that threat of the run with him.

This will be a different Bills team, but will it help them have different a outcome against New England?
