Joe Marino writes for buffalobillsdraft.com and recently he granted an interview to us about the Bills and their upcoming game against the Patriots.
Patriots Gab: With the New QB in rookie EJ, what kind of offense do you see the Bills running this year?
Joe Marino: Face paced, high tempo, get the ball to the playmakers.
Patriots Gab: What things are you expecting from the explosive CJ Spiller this season?
Joe Marino: A career year appears likely. Lots of touches, that produces 1500+ yards.
Patriots Gab: What are your impressions of EJ Manuel and Jeff Tuel?
Joe Marino: EJ Manuel had an excellent preseason and looks like he could have an excellent career as a starter. Tuel has some ability but does not project as a starter.
Patriots Gab: What are the Bills strengths and weakness heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Patriots?
Joe Marino: The Bills strength is their pass rush and ability to get the ball to explosive players in a high tempo offense. Their weakness is pass defense.
Patriots Gab: What key matchups will you be looking for in this game?
Joe Marino: The Bills secondary without Gilmore and Byrd vs the new Patriots WR’s. Mario Williams and Jerry Hughes against the Pats pass protections.
Patriots Gab: What area do you think the Bills can take advantage of the Patriots?
Joe Marino: Vertical passing game and running a fast paced high tempo offense. The patriots linebackers lack athleticism as a group.
Patriots Gab: In 2011 the Bills beat the Patriots in the first matchup 34-31, and in 2012 they came very close to beating the Patriots again, 31-37. Why do you think the Bills are able to get in a high scoring game with the Patriots and come very close to winning it, or winning it like in 2011?
Joe Marino: A high scoring game would favor the patriots considering the Bills inexperience at QB. The key for the Bills will be getting after Brady to force errors.
Patriots Gab: Which Bills draft pick are you most excited to see play this Sunday?
Joe Marino: Aside from EJ Manuel, it would be Kiko Alonso. Alonso has been the starter from day 1 at ILB and I am curious to see if he can take charge of the defense.
Patriots Gab: How do you see the 2013 season going for the Bills?
Joe Marino: I would expect 6-7 wins.
Patriots Gab: Care to give a prediction for the Bills – Patriots game Sunday?
Joe Marino: 28-17 Pats.
