The New England Patriots completed the second day of joint practices with the Eagles.
The Quarterbacks: Tom Brady was great again today, and is having a blast at joint practices. Brady has been so good that a few of the Eagles defenders were in awe of the quarterback’s performance. Brady trusts Dobson enough to throw passes up and let the rookie go get it, and he certainly does. Brady threw a high, deep pass for the rookie who was in double coverage, and he out-jumped safety Nate Allen and cornerback Curtis Marsh to make the catch. Brady threw back-to-back touchdowns of 50+ yards to Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson. Josh Boyce had a good day working with Brady as well, and of course, Danny Amendola did too. Brady and the rookies seem to be meshing.
The Runningbacks: Shane Vereen and Leon Washington received a lot of reps in the passing aspect of New England’s offense today. Vereen had a nice catch and run for a TD from Tom Brady.
The Wide Receivers: Aaron Dobson IS THE MAN out there. He has now received the trust of Tom Brady to lob up passes for Dobson to go up and get them. Dobson does it often and well, very well. Dobson is a true deep threat. Thompkins is proven to be a deep threat, and Josh Boyce gets open on routes against zone often. The rookies are looking impressive.
The Defense: Aqib Talib has been doing great things through camp and against the Eagles. Talib is shutting down more receivers more times than not. Jamie Collins looks good in coverage along with rookie LB Steve Beauharnais. A good coverage LB is something New England has been needing.
The Patriots and Eagles will practice tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
