The New England Patriots completed day 5 of training camp Tuesday afternoon. The team will be off tomorrow.

Aaron Dobson missed the practice today due to an undisclosed injury, maybe relating to a fall last night. Dobson was running full speed toward the sideline last night and was unable to slow his speed before making contact with a track-like field that goes around the field causing him to fall once his cleats hit it. He got up slowly, and seemed to be shaken up. So, maybe that is the reason behind him taking a seat today.

The Quarterbacks: Tom Brady had a solid outing once again. Tom Brady threw big passes to 3 different rookies today. He hit the rookie Kenbrell Thompkins on a deep bomb between two defenders, and hit Zac Sudfeld for a touchdown pass in the  corner of the end zone. He also hit Josh Boyce for a touchdown on a beautifully thrown fade pass to the back corner of the end zone. Ryan Mallett practiced much better today hitting on some good passes. He is starting to look better and better. Tebow open practice by running the read option. Brian Daboll has been severing as a personal instructor to Tim Tebow. He’s spent the last three days almost exclusively with the third-string quarterback and it appears as if it is helping. Tebow finally getting a coach to work one on one with him seems to be paying off for the young QB, and if the team has patience with him then he could develop into a starting QB someday. Tebow still struggled with decision making today and getting rid of the ball, but fired a beautiful pass into the end zone to Quentin Sims for a touchdown.

The Runningbacks: Leon Washington had a good day in the return game and in the running game. He took a pass and made some great moves in the open field. Stevan Ridley and Kyle Arrington got into a fight at the end of practice when Arrington delivered a hard shot to the RB. Ridley vocally did not like it and took a swing, but it was broken up quickly.

The Wide Receivers: Danny Amendola had some hiccups with Brady today but connected on a lot of passes from Brady. Thompkins had a good day, and made a great catch on a deep pass from Brady. He went up to make the catch between Logan Ryan and Devin McCourty.

The Tight Ends: Daniel Fells is having a heck of a training camp. Brady and Fells are showing good chemistry on the field and Fells is showing off his good hands. It wouldn’t surprise me if Fells gets a lot of work in the pre-season heading into regular season. Rookie Zac Sudfeld made a great touchdown catch thrown by Brady. Sudfeld made a one handed diving catch for the TD to Brady’s likening.

The Defense: Talib has been having a heck of a camp, and today was no different, except for one play. Matthew Slater got behind the CB by at least 5 yards and caught a touchdown pass. Talib was visibly upset with himself and was heard screaming at himself the moment the football left Brady’s hands. Rookie Logan Ryan made an interception today.

Kicker: Gostkowski made 4 of 4 field goals today. His last attempt though was blocked by Adrian Wilson.

The Patriots will be off tomorrow but will return to the practice field Thursday at 2:20 p.m.
