The Patriots held their fourth practice of training camp under the lights at Gillette Stadium in front of 20 thousand fans.
The Patriots annually hold night workouts for their season ticket holders. The practice began after LB Tedy Bruschi’s induction into Patriots Hall of Fame along with longtime Patriots broadcaster Gil Santos.
20,000 fans showed up tonight to watch their team perform during practice, and the defense won the battle.
Quarterbacks: The ball was dropped a lot by the wide receivers mixed in with some bad passes by the Quarterbacks. Tom Brady was picked off twice tonight by Aqib Talib, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Mallett missed some throws and was intercepted by rookie safety Duron Harmon. Tebow struggled with deciding to throw the football, but had another beauty of a throw down the field to tight end Ford, who promptly dropped it. Tebow also played as a personal punter protector in practice. McDaniels after practice said Tebow was strictly a QB not a WR.
Wide Receivers: Danny Amendola made a great catch from Brady, snatched the ball away from Talib, but had some drops in there. Dobson had a solid day, and rookie Thompkins struggled to make catches tonight.
Runningbacks: Stevan Ridley had a much better night tonight. He gashed the defense on a few occasions and held onto the football.
Tight Ends: Daniel Fells had the play of the night. Fells caught a deep pass thrown by Brady for a touchdown. He had gotten behind the defense. Fells is having a strong off season so far. The other tight end having a good off season is Michael Hoomanawanui. He showed off his blocking skills and made a one handed catch of a Brady pass.
Defense: Chandler Jones and Dont’a Hightower showed off in rushing the quarterbacks today. They were in the back field often. Aqib Talib had a heck of a night, picking off Brady twice, and breaking up a few passes.
