New England releases Donald Jones

Buffalo Bills v New England Patriots

The Patriots announced today the releasing of WR Donald Jones.

Donald Jones played with Buffalo for 3 seasons, but signed a 3 year deal with New England on March 15th. Jones set career highs with Buffalo last season, posting 41 receptions for 443 yards and 4 touchdowns. The deal he signed with New England did not come with any guaranteed money but was set to receive $200,000 bonus for reporting to training camp which he will not be getting.

The Patriots are excited about their young group of wideouts and needed to make a move for the younger bunch, which includes Kenbrell Thompkins , who turned heads at Patriots mini camp, and even earned first team reps by the end of mandatory camp.  The Patriots also signed veterans wideouts this offseason, Danny Amendola, and Michael Jenkins, both took most of the first team reps with Tom Brady.

The Patriots also announced today they have signed rookie wide receivers Perez Ashford and Quentin Sims.
