The New England Patriots held its’ 5th OTA today, and it was open to the media.

Missing from practice: WR Julian Edelman(foot), TE Rob Gronkowski(arm), RB Brandon Bolden(ankle), OL Nick McDonald, T Will Svitek, and LB Brandon Spikes. Spikes is continuing to work on his own, but is expected to return with the team during their mandatory minicamp.

Danny Amendola had another impressive practice with the team, drawing praise from offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels early on in group workout . Amendola made a great diving catch deep down the field, beating Alfonzo Dennard. Amendola has been showing great speed, and hands through out OTAs.

Michael Jenkins had an easy pass dropped today, but has an ideal catching form, consistently catching passes away from his body. His hands are reliable for the most part, but in the last two practices he has had big drops.

Aaron Dobson had a bad drop in group workouts, but other then that, had a good day. Dobson made another great catch deep down the sideline over Alfonzo Dennard and Steve Gregory. He made another sideline catch that was very impressive. There is big upside for Dobson, he is a rookie and made some rookie mistakes, but he is a true deep threat.

Zac Sudfeld , the undrafted rookie tight-end who stands 6’7 received plenty of attention from his quarterbacks. He looked good in catching passes and running routes.

Leon Washington continued to excel in the return game for special teams. Washington has shown great burst as a returner and a runningback. While Shane Vereen is expected to replace Danny Woodhead as a change of pace back, Washington can definitely help out in that role as well.

Jamie Collins, rookie LB, was working alongside Dont’a Hightower, and Jerod Mayo to start the day, then later on worked as an outside linebacker. Collins was moved around during practices, the Patriots seem to be experimenting with the rookie.

Ras-I Dowling looked good again in practice, and Aqib Talib had an interception off a deflected pass. The DB overall had a good day of work.
