Rob Gronkowski is set to have his fourth surgery on his left forearm next week. The exact day is not known. According to Adam Schefter Gronkowski brought in noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews to consult on the surgery. It will be performed by Dr. Jesse Jupiter of Massachusetts General Hospital.
If the infection is gone the fourth surgery would replace the plate in Gronkowski’s forearm, and the estimate for a recovery would be about 10 weeks, which means Gronk would return in time for training camp. If there are still signs of infection, that sets Gronkowski back, and puts him at jeopardy for missing the start of the season, and perhaps even more with a fifth surgery likely after that.
