Steelers match Patriots offer to WR Sanders

The Pittsburgh Steelers matched the New England Patriots 2.5 million dollar offer sheet to WR Emmanuel Sanders, which means the Steelers will keep the wide out and not gain the Patriots third round draft pick this year. The Patriots will now look to move on for another target for QB Tom Brady.

Sanders had 44 receptions in 2012 for 626 yards and one touchdown. Since being drafted in 2010, Sanders has a career 94 receptions for 1,290 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Patriots were willing to give up a third round pick on the potential Sanders has, but Steelers QB Big Ben lobbied hard for his team to keep the wide out, and the Steelers did, making their QB very happy.

On the website “Behind the Steel Curtain”, 65 percent of Steeler fans voted to let Sanders go to New England. On the website they show a comment mentioning the talent of wide receivers the Steelers would have to choose from instead of Sanders. So all is well, even though New England did not land Sanders, the Patriots will have good options to choose from in the 1st round if they wish too.
