Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard gets 30 days of Jail

Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard was sentenced to 30 days in Jail and two years probation for assaulting a police officer in Lincoln, Nebraska last year. Dennard was arrested just after 2 a.m. on April 21 outside a bar in Lincoln. A police report said Dennard struck an officer after the officer ordered him to leave the area after an altercation with another man. Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Dennard’s college coach, Nebraska’s Bo Pellini, wrote letters of support to the court. Today, Dennard stood in front of the judge and apologized to his family, friends, fans and to the officer whom he hit. The court decided to accommodate Dennard’s football schedule, meaning he won’t have to go to jail until 11 months from now. He can travel between New England and Nebraska, as well as for work. For any other travel, he must seek permission.

Patriot fans are breathing a sign of relief as Dennard will get to rejoin the Patriots and play this 2013 season. The Patriots will have all cornerbacks on deck to start the season.
