Red Sox Prospect Bryce Brentz shoots himself in the leg while cleaning his gun

Boston Red Sox Outfield prospect Bryce Brentz shot himself in the leg two weeks ago said  Ben Cherington, the Red Sox General Manager. According to Cherington “The bullet went into Brentz left leg and clean out the other side and was lucky to not have suffered a more serious injury.” Cherington went on to say “He was at home cleaning his gun and it accidentally went off, fortunately for him, it’s something he’s going to recover from and be fine, and it won’t affect his baseball career.” Cherington also mention Brentz could play in a game before the end of spring training.  Brentz was a first-round draft pick by the Red Sox in 2010. He hit a combined .290 with 17 home runs and 76 RBIs last season in Double-A and Triple-A. Hopefully for the Red Sox nation it is not a sign of things to come for the new season.
