Former Patriot Brian Hoyer Signs With Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers worked out the former New England Patriots undrafted free agent QB Brian Hoyer and signed him today. Hoyer threw 27 completions on 43 attempts for 286 yards, one touchdown, and one inteterception in three seasons for the Patriots. He lost the backup job in a competition against QB Ryan Mallett in the 2012 preseason. The Steelers are bringing in QB Brian Hoyer due to them being so thin at QB now. Starter Big Ben is dealing with a shoulder injury and a rib injury that could affect his heart and threaten his life if he plays too soon and further hurt the injuries. Backup QB Byron Leftwich was injured with two crack ribs in the Steelers loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Qb Charlie Batch is expected to make the start against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.  Along with QB Brian Hoyer the Steelers also signed WR Plaxico Burress. Burress is making his return to the team who drafted him back in 2000 in the first round.
