The New England Patriots arch nemesis the New York Jets are quite the story this week for all the wrong reasons. They have a losing season. The playoffs are very far off for a team that can’t score points unless they get turnovers. The defense is struggling. The coaches lost the team last season and have created an utter mess. Even though the Jets are a very bad team they fight to not become irrelevant rather then good, rather then win. They want story lines not wins. They didn’t bother to fix last season’s problems and it has spilt over to this season. What do they do? Let their players continue to talk and now supposedly a player is calling out Tim Tebow. I assure you Tim Tebow has nothing to do with this bad season.
Christian Fauria a former Patriots player said today on Espn’s First Take that he thinks the Jets are having a hard time accepting the fact they failed with Mark Sanchez. The GM for the Jets Mike Tannenbaum and head coach Rex Ryan have made it pretty obvious they are going to sink with the sinking Sanchez ship. They won’t jump off. They will continue to ride it till they are fired. They will be. After this mess I think its at the end of the season. Tony Sparano the Jets offensive coordinator can be added to that mix. I’m confused as to why Ryan and Sparano wanted to bring in Tebow if they never planned on using him? Why did Tannenbaum do it? When I see its 4th and one like against the Seahawks and you don’t put in Tebow to pick it up you need to be fired right there. When they are at the goal line and Sanchez is throwing more times then not that ends up being picked off. I’m sure you have seen these stats compared in many difference places. Lets show them one more time.
Sanchez stats 2012 (through 9 games): 1,816 passing yards, 10 rushing yards, 10 pass TDs, 0 rush TDs, 10 Total TDs, 9 Ints, 4 FumL (13 TOs), 52% CMP%, 28.7 QBR, 3 wins, 6 losses.
Tebow stats 2011 (through 9 games): 1,405 passing yards, 573 rushing yards, 10 pass TDs, 4 rush TDs, 14 total TDs, 2 Ints, 4 FumL (6 TOs), 49% CMP%, 42.3 QBR, 7 wins, 2 losses.
That’s pretty close. Except Tebow can do a lot with his feet. Escape sacks, get more positive yards then negatives. The biggest difference is the wins and losses. Tebow has the “It” factor. He is a leader. He can bring a locker room together. Make fans excited and it doesn’t matter if they are Jets fans or not everybody gets excited and wants to see Tebow play. He is a winner. He has the ability to put a team on his back and win games. As a Florida Gators fan I have seen this over and over again with Tebow. He is a great player. I believe will be a great QB. He can throw deep passes. Hes great at that. The thing I saw last season was the short passes were a problem. He has the tendency to rare back and throw it like a baseball player. It is like a rocket coming at the players or ending up in the dirt. During the preseason he was completing a lot of short passes. I know he has made progress with that. Every year Tebow can and will get better.
Why do people hate Tebow is a mystery to me. ESPN loves to talk about him. Fans of different team and even analyst sadly enough love to make fun of him. Some dislike he is a christian. Some are negative people who don’t want to believe anybody could be this good of a person. Players even take part of this which is a shame. The fact the Jets are trying to use Tebow as an escape goat for their mess is a crying shame. Its down right despicable. Tebow doesn’t deserve that. Its not even his fault. They would actually win games if he was the every down starter. Somehow someway Tebow would win with this very bad team. Tebow has this ability to make players play better. Tebow doesn’t deserve the things fans say about him. Why hate a good guy? In this society sadly enough people have a tendency to with players especially put them on a pedestal to watch them fail. I think Tebow deals with every bad saying and every criticism about him in a great way. He is a role model. People should embrace how he is and the way he plays. They should root for him. I understand wanting him to lose a game if he is playing your team but to get your happiness if he fails is disgusting. If Rex Ryan wants to keep his job give the people what they want. Give the Jets fan base something to cheer about. Start Tebow. Give him the chance he deserves. Don’t treat him like this. The lack of playing time is horrible to do to him. Just play Tebow.
Say what you will about John Fox and John Elway not liking him or wanting him at least they did play him. He rewarded them too by taking them to and winning a playoff game. The Jets of all teams should know Tebow’s capabilities since he did lead a 95 yard drive to beat the Jets last season. Tebow has the it factor. You can dislike losing all you want and I despise it but when you lose to Tim Tebow it doesn’t feel as bad as other losses as long as its not in the playoffs. He wins the right way and loses the right way. That’s more I can say about some players in the NFL or even coaches.
I have a feeling the way last season went with Tebow and this season is going with Tebow something very special is going to happen for Tebow in the NFL. I think this is setting the stage for one of the great stories in the NFL. A classic underdog story. He will make it in the NFL as a QB. Tebow knows and should always remember when people are talking the way they have been talking about him to know this. ““Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”- Matthew 5:11
