New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

The Race For Home Field Begins

The race for home field advantage begins this weekend. This weekend will be the first weekend of November and teams begin to show who is a legit contender in the race of the top two seeds in the playoffs.

The Houston Texans are favored getting the top seed in the playoffs. They have made it to November with only one loss. There is a big chance they will get the top seed. Looking at their remaining schedule they only have two tough teams left to play. At Chicago November 11th. Then they are at New England December 10th. If they beat Chicago I say they are definitely winning the top seed. If they lose there is a chance New England could get the top seed then if they can beat Houston later on and win out. The Texans are a very good team though and are in the race for the top seed.

The Patriots are still in the race for the top seed but definitely the second seed. In that spot I think they are racing against Denver for it.  Denver has no tough games left this season except for the Ravens. The Broncos play at Baltimore December 16th. Right now they are 4-3.  They might be able to win out with the remaining schedule. If Denver gets home field advantage this season that could be a very tough thing for other teams to have to try to play and win their.

The Patriots have two more tough games remaining. They face the Texans December 10th. Then they face the 49ners December 16th.  Certainly two tough games left against two of the best teams in the NFL. Right now the Patriots record is 5-3.  I think they will get one of the two top seeds and a home field advantage.

I took Baltimore out of the equation based on their last outing against the Texans. They lost Ray Lewis and Webb. Two huge players to that defense. Lewis being the biggest loss because of what he brings to that team. He is their heart and soul. He is their leader. He is the captain of the whole team. Their schedule is not favorable either. They still have to play the Steelers twice. They have the Broncos and Giants left to play as well. It will be very tough for Baltimore to stay in the running of home field advantage.

With all that being said just because it seems the remaining schedule may be easy for some then others it doesn’t mean they will win all those games. In the NFL on any Sunday any team can win. Sometimes the worst team beats the best team. Nothing is set in stone yet.

Truly at the end of the day getting home field advantage is huge for a team but it really matters most who is the hottest team at the end of the season as proven by the Packers run to winning a Superbowl and the Giants run last season. Getting a wild card if your hot means your just as likely going to the SuperBowl as the first seeded team.  Its not the end of the world if your team doesn’t get home field advantage. The best thing a team can do is get hot late at the right time. That is your best chance at a super bowl.
