TE Coach Brian Ferentz Joins His Father in Iowa

Patriots tight ends coach Brian Ferentz has joined his father Kirk’s coaching staff at the University of Iowa, where he’ll coach the the Hawkeyes’ offensive line.

“I am excited to have LeVar (Woods) and Brian, two men with strong ties to our program and high school football within the state of Iowa, join our staff,” Kirk Ferentz said. “LeVar and Brian had great careers at the University of Iowa and both have enjoyed unique experiences and opportunities since their graduation. I am confident they will make positive and significant contributions in all areas of our program.”

Ferentz had been with the Patriots for the last four seasons and became the tight ends coach in 2011. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski earned Pro Bowl honors after setting single-season records for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns for a tight end.

Over the last two seasons, Gronkowski and fellow 2010 draft pick Aaron Hernandez have combined for 256 receptions, 3,346 yards and 40 touchdowns from the tight end position.
