Brandon Lloyd – Would He and the Patriots Make a Good Free Agent Marriage?

Current Rams WR Brandon Lloyd is set to hit the free agent market in less than a month, and his agent, Tom Condon, knows that a great fit for the 31-year-old would be New England.

Lloyd had his biggest season of his career when he was playing in Denver, and this upcoming season there’s going to be a key piece of that team roaming the Pats sideline – Josh McDaniel.

“I can’t even lie about that,” Lloyd told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in late December. “I’m tied to McDaniels. He uses me differently than other offensive coordinators used me in my entire career. He uses me as an every-play receiver. The short game, mid-range game, gimmick passes, deep balls.

“I do everything in this offense as opposed to other coordinators who would just run me off as the deep guy; run me off into double coverage and then say I’m not open. So I really like how Josh uses me within the offense. . . . I want to be used in ways where I feel comfortable and I can be successful and Josh knows how to do that.”

The Pats have already been linked to reportedly returning WR Randy Moss, and one would think it would make a lot more sense to entertain grabbing Lloyd off the FA market then dealing with the drama that comes with having Moss on the roster.

Condon said in today’s Boston Herald he thinks both sides can get something done – if they want to.

“Both sides know how this works,” Condon said yesterday from St. Louis. “If they have an interest they call up and tell you when free agency starts or they meet you at the combine or whenever. We both know what Brandon is. He’s a smart, explosive receiver. He’s a player who is going to get offers.”

It would be a good fit, and clearly WR is a spot of need for the Pats this offseason.

I THINK THE PATRIOTS SHOULD GO AFTER THESE FREE AGENTS TE-Jermichael Finley-Packers,DE-Calais Campbell-Cardinals,NT-Paul Soliai -Dolphins,WR-Stevie Johnson-Bills and C-Chris Myers-Texans .Also do not trade away any draft picks for the future because the future is now with the core of this team. Tom B. has a few good years left in him if he fixes that shoulder problem. The pats where 24-8 the past two years not bad for a rebuilding team.
