Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio turned down an offer from Jim Irsay to be the next general manager of the Colts, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday.
Caserio has been with the Patriots for 11 seasons, working as a coaching assistant, scout, position coach (wide receivers) and director of player personnel. Caserio replaced Scott Pioli as the top personnel executive in 2008.
In addition to Caserio, Baltimore Ravens Director of Player Personnel Eric DeCosta has turned down an opportunity to meet with the Colts, as well as a couple of other interested teams. Despite Caserio and DeCosta removing themselves from consideration, there is no shortage of qualified individuals to head up the Colts’ personnel department.
In-house candidate Tom Telesco is joined by Atlanta Falcons Director of Player Personnel Les Snead and Director of College Scouting David Caldwell, Dallas Cowboys Director of College Scouting Tom Ciskowski, New York Giants Director of College Scouting Marc Ross, Philadelphia Eagles Director of Personnel Ryan Grigson and Montreal Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp.
