New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

Patriots Inspired by Bruins NHL Stanley Cup Win

The Pats now have the longest dry spell of any pro sports team in Boston not to win a title. The Stanley Cup win by the Bruins has them inspired to go out and win the Super Bowl in 2011.

The Bruins added a title to New England’s somewhat remarkable run over the past decade or so, leaving the Patriots with the area’s longest title drought. The Sox last won in 2007, beating the Colorado Rockies. The Celtics won in the 2007-08 season, beating the Lakers. The Pats last won in the 2004-05 season, beating the Philadelphia Eagles. So now, the championship drought has been passed down to the Pats. “I’ve been able to go to a Super Bowl, a World Series, an NBA finals, and now a Stanley Cup since I’ve been here,” Stephen Gostkowski said. “It’s an amazing city. The fans drive it. Every team has great teams. I hope they make us the longest standing team. That will put pressure on us to get it done.”
