New England Patriots Super Bowl Champs

Breakdown of the Third Day of the Draft for the Pats breaks down day three for the Pats, and gives their take on some background on the players the team picked.

Round 5, Pick 7 (138) (From Texans) Marcus Cannon OL 6’5″ 358 TCU 7.1

Pick Analysis: Bill Belichick ignores the reported medical risk to take a first-round talent in Cannon. He is a legitimate big-time player with the size, strength and skill to be a quality starter as a pro. If his medical concerns check out, the Patriots could wind up with a tremendous steal in Cannon.

Round 5, Pick 28 (159) Lee Smith TE 6’6″ 266 Marshall 4.0 Video

Pick Analysis: Bill Belichick adds another big, physical tight end to their rotation. Smith is a tough blocker at the point of attack, and he is an ideal No. 3 tight end on their roster.

Round 6, Pick 29 (194) (From Jets through Eagles) Markell Carter LB 6’4″ 252 Central Arkansas —

Round 7, Pick 16 (219) (From Raiders) Malcolm Williams DB 5’10” 204 TCU
