Welker Says he’s not worried about his contract status

The Boston Globe reports on the latest with the contract situation for Wes Welker, and if the team is going to get something done with him at any point in the near future.

There is some thought that the New England Patriots renegotiated Deion Branch’s contract as part of the process toward working on a new deal for Wes Welker. Welker will enter the final year of his 5-year contract next year but in the meantime, he said he isn’t concerned about his contract right now. “Not really at all,” Welker said. “All I know is that I’m under contract and just happy to be here and happy to be a Patriot and just look forward to winning some ball games.” On Sunday, Welker will take the field for the first time without Randy Moss on the Patriots roster and he said he has to expect the unexpected against the Baltimore Ravens. “I’m sure it may be a little bit different but we’ll see what happens,” Welker said. “That’s what adjustments are for and coming out there and making sure we see what they’re doing and making the adjustments off that.” Is there anything he hasn’t seen from a defense? “There’s always a new wrinkle here and there every year, so you’ve just got to be ready for everything and make the adjustments as you go,” he said.
