Belichick missing ‘Hard Knocks’ and Kaczur

Some house cleaning first before we get to the good stuff from Patriots head coach Bill Belichick today. The New England Patriots waived rookie cornerback Terrence Johnson and officially announced the trade for Atlanta offensive lineman Quinn Ojinnaka after he passed his physical. In addition to the trade, the Patriots waived rookie defensive lineman Kade Weston. If Weston clears waviers, he will return to the Patriots and be placed on injured reserve. To take Weston’s roster spot, the team resigned Ross Ventrone, who returns after being cut just eight days ago.

Prior to the teams afternoon practice, Belichick answered question from reporters, the main highlights from the exchange centered around HBO’s Hard Knocks and Nick Kaczur.

In case you haven’t heard, Tom Brady isn’t a fan of the HBO series Hard Knocks, which this year features division rival, the New York Jets. Belichick was asked essentially the same question this afternoon. His reply, you guessed it, classic Bill.

“I missed it,” Belichick said.

He was then asked if the Patriots could end up on a show like that one day.

“Have I been approached? I’ve had a lot of offers,” Belichick said. “I think anything NFL Films does is probably worth watching. Nobody does it better than they do, in terms of making things interesting, making football interesting,” he said. “It seems like every show they put on that I’ve ever seen, I’ve walked away from saying ‘That was pretty good’ or in some cases more than that, ‘It’s great.’ If NFL Films does it, I’m sure it will be good, entertaining, interesting. But I haven’t seen it.”

“I’m sure I’ll probably see some of it. I don’t even know when it’s on.” Belichick added.

He then went on to essentially confirm that the Patriots are preparing to be without offensive lineman Nick Kaczur for a significant amount of time due to his recent back surgery.

“I don’t think he’ll be available in the immediate future, but we’ll see how that goes. I’m not sure exactly how long that will or won’t be,” Belichick said.
