Ron Brace and Buddy Farnham sightings at Gillette

There could be a couple roster moves coming this afternoon from the New England Patriots because according to local Boston radio station 98.5 The Sports Hub, wide receiver Buddy Farnham is back on the practice field at Gillette Stadium today.

Farnham, who grew up in Andover, Mass., and played at Brown University, was a longshot to earn a roster spot after signing with the Patriots as a rookie free agent in May. Farnham was cut by New England last week, but appears to be back with the team. Farnham may be a prospect for the practice squad this season, but due to the logjam at wide receiver, he has almost no chance to make the roster out of training camp.

The other move soon to come may be the activation of former Boston College defensive lineman Ron Brace. ESPN’s Mike Rodak reports that second year defensive tackle Ron Brace was on the field and participated in Sunday morning’s walkthrough. He lined up at left defensive end during the team’s “opportunity session” late in practice. This news is huge for the Patriots who are in severe need of depth along the defensive line.

Players not seen on the practice field included wide receiver Torry Holt, offensive lineman Nick Kaczur, outside linebacker Jermaine Cunningham, and defensive backs Bret Lockett and Ross Ventrone. Meanwhile, linebacker Gary Guyton, cornerback Leigh Bodden, and wide receiver Matthew Slater were seen on the sidelines. Veteran outside linebacker/defensive end Derrick Burgess participated in his first practice today as expected.
