Madden ’11 Ratings For Patriots Are Out

If you’ve spent countless hours of your life in a room with the lights off covered in Mountain Dew infused sweat, camped out in a tent the night before a Madden release, danced in the face of your opponent after scoring a game winning touchdown, or trash talked so badly while playing online that your opponent leaves the game, you understand, Madden isn’t just a game, its a lifestyle.

Well Patriots fans, the wait is over, well not yet, (Madden ’11 releases on Aug. 10th) but the individual ratings have been posted for Madden ’11. There are a few surprises, so lets start breaking it down. The Patriots have six players with an overall rating above 90. Quarterback Tom Brady (95), wide receiver Randy Moss (95), left guard Logan Mankins (95) and nose Vince Wilfork (95) are among the elite at their respective positions, while wide receiver Wes Welker (91) and kicker Stephen Gostkowski (91) are also above 90 overall.

There is a significant difference in the ratings between the offense and the defense. While the Patriots have four players over 90 on offense, the games creators were not so kind to the Pats defense as Wilfork is the only player on defense with a rating above 90. Following Wilfork on the defensive side of the ball is safety Brandon Meriweather (88), linebacker Jerod Mayo (86) and defensive lineman Ty Warren (84).

Patriots fans can all agree that there no love for the following players; defensive lineman Tully Banta-Cain (79), running backs Sammy Morris (80), Laurence Maroney (78), and right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (79). The major surprise in the ratings; rookie tight end Rob Gronkowski (77) checks in above wide receiver Julian Edelman (76). The new addition to the ratings is the swagger category. Boston.com reports:

“Quarterback Tom Brady is second among all players in the game in the swagger category, with a 96 rating. Kind of brings to mind Brady’s line to Robert Kraft from 2000, which you can find in this video right here … “I just want to tell you, it’s one of the best decisions you ever made, picking me.”
