CB Wilhite Pulled Groin in Off Field Incident

The Boston Herald reports that corner Jonathan Wilhite pulled his groin in off-field incident prior to Sunday’s game vs the Falcons:

New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Wilhite, who was a last-minute scratch for Sunday’s game, told cops he pulled his groin hours before kickoff while running from two men who approached him outside his home, police said yesterday. North Attleboro police responded to a Cumberland Farms near Wilhite’s home after the Pats player ran into the convenience store at 8:15 a.m. and asked a clerk to call authorities, cops said in a statement. Wilhite, 25, told police two subjects “approached him in his parking lot when he arrived home. Wilhite said one person approached him on foot and yelled at him,” the police statement said. The second-year player lives in Blackinton Commons, a 38-unit condo development made up of townhomes. Wilhite became concerned and ran to Cumberland Farms. “He did mention that he had pulled his groin while he was running,” the statement said. The police statement clears up earlier reports that Wilhite was a victim of a home invasion. “This is not a home invasion,” said police Lt. David Dawes.
