Vick Federal Sentence
If your living the dream of watching Michael Vick run options and all kinds of crazy plays wearing a Patriots uniform – forget it. The now released from prison ex-Falcons QB is not going to be coming to New England anytime soon, and that’s a fact.

Today’s Providence Journal writes an interesting piece on Vick, but also rules out a possible signing by the Pats for the QB. Here’s a portion of the story:

Robert Kraft views the Patriots as a brand, and as such carefully guards the image of said brand.

Ever since New England acquired alleged malcontent Randy Moss in a draft-day trade with Oakland in 2007, media outsiders seem to believe that the Pats have become the home for the NFL’s lost souls.

But in the eyes of the public, Moss’ sophomoric on-field antics and 2002 Minnesota traffic incident don’t compare to admitting to bankrolling a dogfighting ring, illegal gambling, and killing losing pit bulls.

The article hits it on the head, Vick is going to be a PR nightmare for whatever team takes that risk, and for the Pats, it’s a risk they don’t need. Many rank them as the best team in the league, and adding Vick is going to do nothing but put a negative focus on the Pats when they clearly don’t need the trouble.
