Butler Getting High Marks From the Pats

Looks like the Pats have another Troy Brown on their hands – at least that is how Pro Football Weekly writes about it:

Bill Belichick has found his next Troy Brown. Or, the inverse of Brown, we should say. The beloved former Patriots receiver, who moonlighted as a cornerback and punt returner, was among the more valued players during his tenure in Foxborough. In rookie Darius Butler, the Pats believe they have the second coming of Brown. Like the diminutive Brown, Butler makes up for his size limitations with exceptional ball skills. And like Brown, we hear the Pats have special-teams plans for him as a returner.

The biggest difference between the two is that Butler is a cornerback by trade who dabbles at receiver, not the other way around. Despite the Pats’ drafting of CBs Terrence Wheatley and Jonathan Wilhite in 2008, Butler is believed to have superior athleticism and may have the inside track on the nickel job when training camp commences.
