Pats Have Their Eyes Set on Panthers DE Peppers?

There is still a lot of talk about DE Julius Peppers and what the Panthers are going to do with the franchised player. Many still think that Peppers is going to be traded at some point, but to who is the big question. The latest from NFL.com is that the Pats have interest in Peppers, and they could be the future home of Peppers. Here is the tidbit from the site:

The trade that sent Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs appears to be only the first phase of some major wheeling and dealing by the New England Patriots this offseason. The second phase, NFL sources say, is likely to involve a trade that would send Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers to the Patriots in exchange for the second-round pick (34th overall) they received from the Chiefs on Feb. 28. According to league sources, the Patriots and Panthers are hoping to complete the deal at some point between the March 22-25 NFL owners meetings and the start of the draft on April 25.

The rich would get richer if Peppers signs with the Pats, as they are a team that already looks like they are reloading for the 09 season, and getting Peppers would only make that defense, which has bee n trying to get younger – even better.

If the Pats get Peppers, they will have no excuses if they don’t win the AFC East next year.

Please let this be one rumor that holds true. Hopefully this all pans out because I don’t want to go 18-1 again………EVAH!!!! I mean from the addition to Randy Moss, to my favorite “Serial Killer Wes Welker” (My special nickname for WW because he slices and dices across the field.)We deserve to take it to the house next season.

We are looking good at rebuilding this team, real good. A bunch of naysayers were saying that we will not be able to pull off the magic without Pioli. I’m thinking that Coach B will be will be called “Machiavelli” soon 😉

  3. […] a report from a colleague at NFL.com that the Patriots were set to acquire Julius Peppers through a trade with the Carolina Panthers. Citing that the Patriots would not “break the bank” to sign Peppers to a long-term […]
