Today’s Boston Herald talks about a couple of Pats that could find themselves getting talked to by the team before free agency starts. Here is the report:

A number of core players will hit free agency after next season, and if the Pats plan on retaining as many of them as they can, they’ll need to start now. Vince Wilfork, Logan Mankins and Stephen Gostkowski are just some of those who could potentially be free. Add the complexity of a potential uncapped year in 2010 and an economic downturn that has affected even the NFL, and the Patriots may be best served this winter making sure their house is in order for 2010 and beyond.
