Could the Pats Be in the Market for a CB?
Posted by Matt Loede on January 27th, 2009 in News
With free agency and the draft upcoming, the Pats may take a look at the cornerback situation and who may be available. A recent tidbit in Pro Football Weekly also takes notice of the Pats growing need for a corner.
There’s a growing sentiment around Foxborough that the Patriots’ need at cornerback should be satisfied chiefly by adding bulk to their corps. Bill Belichick has traditionally favored smaller, quicker corners, but those players have been victimized often by larger wideouts. The club hasn’t had a quality, physical force at the position since Ty Law left town.

IMO in 2009 the Patriots will trade a 3rd or 4th round draft choice for Eagles little-used CB Lito Sheppard as well as use a 1st or 2nd round pick for a CB in this draft.

The Patriots need to draft a corner back to shore up the position for the upcoming year. Its either that or a good young safety.
