The Patriots five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Richard Seymour could be out with a lower back injury. Seymour was not at the team’s practice yesterday, leaving his status for Sunday’s do-or-die game against the Bills in question. Given the team’s track record of successfully surviving key injuries by plugging in other players – be it backups with little to some experience or guys pulled out of virtual retirement – there shouldn’t be that much concern, even with a player of Seymour’s importance. Let’s remember, his likely replacement, Jarvis Green, isn’t a 39-year-old ex-player yanked off a surfboard in Fiji. He has played an important role during his seven-year tenure with the team.
