Tom Brady deflected all questions about his condition by either saying he wanted to limit his comments to the event for the Patriots Charitable Foundation or by speaking in general about the team. “I feel great when our team wins, I’ll tell you that,” Brady said. “This last weekend . . . we have a lot of toughness on our team. I hope we can win out, this game certainly, and move forward and hopefully get a little bit of luck.”

Brady had nothing but praise for his replacement, Matt Cassel, who has led the Pats to a 9-5 record and Sunday threw a career-high four touchdowns against the Raiders, playing less than a week after the death of his father. “He’s done incredible,” Brady said. “I think he’s had a very tough week. He’s had a lot of support from his teammates. He’s a great person, a great teammate, a great friend, and he’s such a mentally tough person. Just the success that I’ve seen from him and his maturity is exceptional.”
