The Pats and CB Eugene Wilson are parting ways, as today’s Boston Globe is reporting that Wilson will become a free agent when the signing period starts at 12:01 EST on Friday. “I’m looking forward to moving on, and at the same time, I wish the best of luck to the Patriots because I don’t think I’ll be back there this year,” Wilson said yesterday. “I’m excited to get into free agency to see what is out there.” Wilson is a quality CB and will get looks around the league when the signing period starts. The 2nd round pick of the Pats in 2003 played five seasons there, recording 10 interceptions, one this past season, with one touchdown.
The Globe stated that one club had him ranked as the second-best safety available in free agency, while also valuing that he can play cornerback in five- or six-defensive back packages. There are plenty of teams that will be looking at corners in free agency, among them include the Texans, Jets, Eagles and possibly the Browns. Once Asante Samuel is gone, some teams may even go so far as to take a look at Wilson.
At 5-10, 195 pounds, Wilson started off fast in his NFL career, with four picks in each of his first two seasons as the Pats won back-to-back Super Bowls. He since though has had just two picks in his last three seasons, one season in which he played just four games (2006) due to injury. He was banged up again this past season and played in 11 games with 31 tackles and the one pick for five yards and a score.

Yeah the pats should definitely sign Law again that way he could keep Junior, Teddy and vrabel company on the Social Security line. Would love to see the pats bring back another over the hill vet so that they can get their @$$ handed to them again by true champions like the G-Men. Time for a NEW TRUE dynasty one that doesnt get there by CHEATING!!! WHAT UP BOSTON, LOVED PUTTING YOU BACK IN YOUR PLACE!!!!!!
your team barely made the playoffs and won’t be any beter than 11-5 next year. When the football Giants have 3 super bowl wins in a decade, then you can brag. clown.
