Pats Release LB Rosevelt Colvin

Today the Patriots released veteran outside linebacker Rosevelt Colvin, ending the five-year stint with the Pats.  Colvin joined the Pats in 2003 after four seasons with the Bears, and in his first season got hurt after just two games and missed the rest of the season.  In 2004 he played in all 16 games, recording 32 tackles and five sacks.  In 05 he had a solid season with 61 tackles and 7 sacks, and then followed that up with 8.5 sacks in 2006.  This past season he played in just 11 games and got hurt on November 25th and missed the rest of the year.  He had just 27 tackles and four sacks.  He has 414 tackles, 52.5 sacks, three interceptions, 13 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries in nine seasons with the Patriots and Bears.His 52½ career sacks rank fifth among active NFL linebackers.  The team also announced the release of linebacker Oscar Lua, a 2007 seventh-round draft choice. Lua spent last season on injured reserve after hurting his knee in the preseason.
