Washington

The Boston Globe is reporting today that the Pats have told wide out Kelley Washington that they are not going to pickup his option for the 2008 season, making him an unrestricted free agent once the market opens at the end of the month. Washington signed a five-year deal with the Pats before last season, but didn’t catch a pass and was known mostly for his special teams play. He recorded the teams first blocked punt since 1999 in the teams 20-10 late season win over the Jets. The team is talking about though bringing Kelley back with a reworked deal. Before coming to the Pats, Washington played four seasons with the Bengals, catching 72 balls and nine touchdowns.
