Samuel Hopes to Remain A Patriot
Posted by Stephen Rhodes on February 8th, 2008 filed in News, OpinionsAccording to New England Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel, he wants to remain a Patriot; however, “it’s gonna take a lot” to make that happen. Samuel also told Pat Bigold of the Boston Globe, “The fans love me and I love them back. The organization loves me and, hopefully, we can work it out.” When asked what he thought he was worth, Samuel answered back, “You take a guess and see if you can hit it. It’s no secret I’m looking for a big, huge, blockbuster deal.”
I am sure the Patriots would love to have Samuel back. But there’s some issues that need to be addressed: Randy Moss’ situation needs to be fixed (maybe franchise-tag him?), and there’s a draft coming up, as well. Robert Kraft, the owner of the team, while not a spendthrift but at the same time not known to buy into fiscal irresponsibility, will have his hands full deciding who and who not to keep. to say the least, things should be very interesting up in Foxborough for the foreseeable future.
