Patriots release TE Rivers

The New England Patriots released tight end Marcellus Rivers after lifting safety Rodney Harrison’s roster exemption. Rivers was signed last Wednesday when TE David Thomas was put on injured reserve. In 5 NFL seasons, Rivers has played with the New York Giants and Houston Texans.
