Shock And Awe! New England Destroys Washington 52-7
Posted by Jeff Sack on October 28th, 2007 filed in Game StoriesThe New England Patriots took on the invading hordes from the city of Washington D.C. Sunday as the Pats were on a seek and destroy mission. Mission Accomplished! New England 52 Washington 7. Cheney is probably trying to get Patriots coach Bill Belichick on the phone as I write this to find out his game plan! Tom Brady and the Patriots took away any fears any observers had about looking a week ahead by shutting out Washington until the fourth quarter. Brady if it is all possible was even better in this game than he has been all season, by expanding his repertoire. He again was responsible for five touchdowns, but this time he threw for three and ran into the end zone for the other two!
Brady scored his first touchdown of the game at the 3:44 mark of the first quarter by run 3 yards to his left for the first score of the game. After Steve Gostkowski kicked the extra point New England ended the first quarter leading Washington 7-0. Gostkowski hit a 36 yard field goal in the second quarter which came in between a Brady touchdown pass to Mike Vrabel at the 8:08 mark of the quarter. Brady then finished the half by hitting new BFF Randy Moss for another TD with 17 seconds left in the half Patriots 24 Washington 0.
Brady would have 2 more touchdowns the next one coming at the 7:14 mark of the third as he rushed up the middle for 2 yards for his second time of the day running into the endzone. His final touchdown of the game came at the 9:06 mark of the fourth quarter as he threw a pass to Wes Welker for touchdown number five. Brady was then pulled from the game, his final numbers? 29/38 passing for 306 yards and 3 touchdowns. And on the rushing totals Brady had 4 carries for 14 yards and 2 touchdowns.
New England also scored 2 more touchdowns one as Roosevelt Colvin recovered a Washington quarterback Jason Campbell fumble and ran for 11 yards for the touchdown. The other was when Patriots backup quarterback Matt Cassel ran 15 yards into the end zone in the fourth.
Campbell did not really have what you would call a swell day, going 21/36 for 197 yards 1 touchdown 1 interception and 3 fumbles, 1 very costly. Washington now falls to 4-3 in the NFC East where they trail Dallas who leads the division and the surprising New York Giants who beat the Dolphins in London Sunday 13-10.
And so Patriots fans you are on the eve of what you have been waiting for as two undefeated teams the 7-0 Colts take on 8-0 New England November 4. Indianapolis also won Sunday beating Carolina 31-7, to setup the rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game. With the Red Sox in the World Series, the Kevin Garnett led Celtics opening the NBA campaign, and the Patriots Colts it’s a great time to be a New England sports fan!

Pats fans will always be whining and complaining about something. Speed of the leader speed of the fans. Cheat, whine, complain. That’s what the East coast does. Talk about playing real football. The Colts team was drafted and developed. The Pats, Red Sox and Yankees all have to buy their talent to win championships. They can’t raise it on their own so they buy their rings. And how satisfying is that? Pats and fans have won all these championships and they are still crying. Try winning the real way by building a team, having respect and dignity for your opponent, and by good old fashion hard work(not spying) and see how it feels. But it will never happen out East, you’ll always have to buy your championships.

I am constantly hearing “The Patriots just steamrolled another team” and “This is not a fair match-up. The patriots will murder this team. I am a patriots fan but i think they should not run up the score so often. It’s almost ridiculous… but if that’s what it takes to win… i am right there with them.
