The New England Patriots acquiring wide receiver Randy Moss from the Oakland Raiders for a fourth round draft pick this off-season just might turn out to be the steal of the millennium! Moss looked like he was in mid-season form, and he and quarterback Tom Brady looked like they had been a tandem for years as the Patriots sent New York Jets fans home unhappy as New England won in dominating fashion 38-14. Moss who missed most of the Pre-Season because of a balky hamstring, caught nine passes for a total of 183 yards including a touchdown. It looked as if Moss had turned the clock back to his glory days with the Minnesota Vikings.

Although Brady and Moss will dominate the headlines, they were far from the game’s only heroes. New England’s Ellis Hobbs opened the second half with a touchdown on a kickoff return setting a NFL record by going 108 yards for the score. Hobbs caught Jets’ Mike Nugent’s punt deep in the patriots end zone ran towards his left and was off to the races. The running game was also effective as Laurence Maroney had 20 catches for 72 yards, and Sammy Morris had 11 touches for 54 yards.

Brady put on a clinic, going 22-28 for 297 yards including two touchdowns. Jets quarterback Chad Pennington had a pretty good game as well going 16-21 for 167 yards, and two touchdowns as well but the numbers paled in comparison to Brady. The Patriots and Jets played three times last year including the playoffs. The team from New York took the first contest, but New England won the second two games.
