Vinny Among Those Released by the Patriots

The Pats made moves on Saturday to get their roster down to 53 for next weeks season opener vs the Jets in New Jersey.  The big move was that Richard Seymour was placed on the reserve/PUP list.  The team also activated David Thomas off the PUP list; and placed Oscar Lua on injured reserve.  Among the teams final cuts - DB Larry Anam, OLB Chad Brown, WR Bam Childress, WR Chris Dunlap, C/G Mike Elgin, OT Corey Hilliard,, TE Brian Jones, WR C.J. Jones, WR Kelvin Kight, ILB Corey Mays, TE Garrett Mills, NT Rashad Moore, C/G Gene Mruczkowski, OT Clint Oldenburg, TE Marcellus Rivers, OLB Justin Rogers, RB Quinton Smith, QB Vinny Testaverde, DL Santonio Thomas, CB Dante Wesley and DL Zach West.  Vinny was set to come back for yet another season, and signed just recently to be the teams third QB, but it was not meant to be for the former #1 overall pick from Tampa Bay many years ago.
