New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison will be suspended for the first four games of the NFL season because of violating the league’s performance enhancing substances rules. Harrison revealed the news Friday night just a little over a week before the Patriots travel to New Jersey on September 9, to open the campaign against division rivals the New York Jets. Harrison stressed that he did not take steroids but did not reveal what the banned substance was. Harrison said that he was thoroughly embarrassed by the incident, and hoped that it sent a bad message to youngsters. Harrison in addition to missing the Jets game will miss games against San Diego and Buffalo in Foxboro as well as a game in Cincinnati against the Bengals. The 14 year veteran is in his fifth season as a Patriot.
